Why Plant a New Church in Springfield, Ohio

The Mission Field at Our Doorstep

Whenever a new church is proposed, familiar questions arise:

  • Why start another church?

  • Is there truly a need?

  • Why plant here—and why now?

These are valid concerns often voiced by faithful members of established congregations. Yet, when we look through the lens of the Great Commission, we are compelled to ask:

  • Can a few existing churches reach an entire city—or the world?

  • How many souls does a single church realistically impact each year?

  • Are all people groups within our community being clearly reached with the true Gospel?

  • How many churches bear Christ’s name yet lack Christ’s message?

A New Church Is Not Competition — It’s Reinforcement

We do not seek to compete with gospel-preaching churches, but to stand alongside them as reinforcements in the spiritual battle for souls. The need for Bible-saturated, Christ-exalting congregations remains urgent.

Springfield is home to people from many backgrounds—including a rapidly growing Haitian population—yet many remain spiritually unreached. Some have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. Others have heard a distorted message—one missing repentance, grace, or the urgency of eternal life. Families are searching for stability. Young people are seeking identity. The brokenhearted are longing for healing. Believers are longing for discipleship and sound doctrine.

The need is real. The time is now.

We believe God is leading us to establish a church in Springfield that is:

  • Rooted in Scripture

  • Centered on the Gospel

  • Welcoming to all people

  • A spiritual home for the Haitian community and beyond

Our Vision: A Church That Shines the Light of Christ

We are called to plant a church that:

  • Welcomes every nation and culture with love and truth.

  • Preaches Christ with clarity and conviction.

  • Disciples believers toward maturity and mission.

  • Provides worship and teaching accessible to the Haitian population in their heart language.

  • Raises up leaders and plants more churches.

This is not merely about starting a congregation—it is about changing lives for eternity.

What We Observed in Springfield

During my survey trip to Springfield, several realities became clear:

  • While social needs are visible, the spiritual need is far greater.

  • The Haitian community desires fellowship, worship, and discipleship in a church that understands their language and culture.

  • Many churches in the area emphasize emotion, prosperity, or social causes, yet neglect the core message of salvation through Christ alone.

A Gospel-centered, disciple-making church is urgently needed—not only in Springfield, but in every Haitian community across America.

Gospel Grace Baptist Church / Église Baptiste de l’Évangile de Grâce

With the partnership of Plantation Baptist Church (FL), Victory Baptist Church (OH), Arch Ministries (OH), and others, we are stepping forward in obedience to Christ’s promise:

“I will build My church.” — Matthew 16:18

Our church will be:

  • Missional — reaching every people group in our area.

  • Multiplying — planting churches that plant churches.

  • Biblical — preaching Christ as preeminent and Scripture as final authority.

  • Transformational — turning converts into committed disciples.

  • Active — offering worship services, small groups, outreach, and mentorship.

Our prayer is that this ministry will be a beacon of hope and a spiritual home for generations to come.
